تناول البحث الجمهورية الفرنسية الرابعة، وموقف حكومة غي موليه (Guy-Mollet) إزاء القضية الجزائرية، من خلال الصحافة الفرنسية لعام 1956. وتطرق البحث لأهمية هذه الجمهورية التي حكمت فرنسا من 1947 حتى تأسيس الجمهورية الفرنسية الخامسة 1958، والتي تعد من أقسى الجمهوريات التي ناصبت العداء للدول العربية، فكان العدوان الثلاثى على مصر، ومحاولة سحق الثورة الجزائرية من خلال وزيرها المقيم R. Lacost روبرت لاكوست. شهدت هذه الحكومة تصاعد الحرب الباردة بين الشرق والغرب وانعكاس هذا الصراع على داخل فرنسا وانسحابها. تم تقسيم البحث إلى محورين، تناول المحور الأول الجمهورية الفرنسة الرابعة مسبوقاً بتوطئة تاريخية، بالوقت الذي غالج المحور الثاني، موقف حكومة (غي موليه) إزاء القضية الجزائرية من خلال الصحف الفرنسية المتعددة الألوان والاتجاهات بالإضافة إلى مقدمة وخاتمة. استخدمت في البحث مصادر ومراجع عربية وأجنبية، بالإضافة إلى الصحف الفرنسية أسهمت في تقديم المعلومات المتعلقة بصميم موضوع البحث. \
