كان للدين ولا يزال أهمية قصوى في الحياة الشعوب القديمة حيث كان من أهم العوامل المؤثرة ف سير حياتهم وأسلوب تطور حضاراتهم، تحدد المعتقدات والأفكار الدينية الإطار العام لسلوك الإنسان وحياته وعاداته وتقاليده وأعرافه وقوانينه وتكون الخلفية التاريخية المؤثرة في حياته الاجتماعية والسياسية والفنية، وتبعا لأهمية السياسية والدينية لمعبود آشور فقد برز دور هذا المعبود في الحملات العسكرية الآشورية، إذ أن أغلب تلك الحملات كانت تنفذ بأمر من المعبود، آشور، حيث كان الملوك الآشوريون يدعون بأن المعبود آشور يساعدهم في تحقيق انتصارهم على أعدائهم. قسم هذا البحث في ثلاثة محاور جاء المحور الأول مدخل تاريخ عن الأشوريين ودوافع حملاتهم العسكرية في حين جاء المحور الثاني عن المعبود آشور ومكانته الدينية وخصص المحور الثالث للحديث عن دور المعبود آشور في الحملات العسكرية الآشورية.
The religion had the utmost importance in the lives of ancient people. Where it was the most important factor influenting the way of their life and the style of the development of their civilization, as the religious beliefs and ideas set the general frame work of human behavior and his life, habits, traditions, and laws. Besides, that religious beliefs became the influential background in the human’s social, political, and technical life. According to the religious importance of the Assyrian God, it’s role emerged in the military campaigns as the most of that campaigns were moved by the order of the Assyrian God, and as the Assyrian kings claimed that the Assyrian God had a great role in achieving victory over their enemies. The research is divided into three sections: The first section is “An introduction to the Assyrian History and the motivations of their campaigns” while the second section is dealt with the God Assyr and his Religious prestige. Finally the last section is dealt with the role at God Assyr in the Assyrian Military campaign.
