لقد كان اختيار ابن عنين شاعرا ساخرا ساخطا على عصره و أعيانه درسا رائدا ذا قيمة علمية، حيث أن ابن عنين قد لقي إهمالا شديدا من لدن الباحثين قدامى ومحدثين، فلما جست في المراجع والمصادر القديمة والمحدثة، لم أقع على شيء مغنى عن حياة الشاعر وشعره. وابن عنين كأي شاعر مرآة عصره، فلا بد أن يضيء لنا من خلال شعره جوانب من الحيوات السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية للقرنين السادس والسابع الهجريين، هذين القرنين اللذين تحامل عليها الباحثون فى الأدب فى وصمهما بعصور التخلف والانحطاط، فتجنبوا درسهما درسا وافيا. فبدأت البحث بدراسة نظرية عن حياة الشاعر ونشأته وملامح عصره و شاعريته وثقافته وشيوخه واغراضه الشعرية، حيث قصرت بحثي على ثلاثة أغراض منها، وسعت جل نظمه، ثم كانت الدراسة الفنية للغة والموسيقى الشعرية، وقد أوجزت في التمثل و الاستشهاد إلى حد الكفاية توجسا من الإطالة والإملال.
Choosing Ibn- A’neen as a sarcastic and resentful poet against his era and its representatives was a precious pioneer study because Ibn-A'neen was totally ignored by researchers , old and recent, the researcher couldn't find a single valuable article dealing with this poet, his life or his poetry in both old and recent references and resources. Ibn-A'neen ,as other poets is his era, was a reflecting mirror of that era ;his poetry must have illuminated all aspects of life, i.e. political, economic and social aspects of both the 6th and 7th hijri centuries that were painted with reactionary and decline by most researchers in the field of literature, thus avoiding any comprehensive study. Therefore, the research started with a theoretical study of the poet's biography, the different aspects of his era, his political intuition, his culture , his masters in poetry and his poetic aims included in most of his works. The researcher came up with the artistic study of the poet's language and his poetic rhythm. The researcher meant to be brief in quoting enough, yet satisfactorily examples to avoid being lengthy and boring.
