احتفلت الجامعة الأردنية باليوبيل الذهبي بمناسبة مرور خمسين عاماً على تأسيسها. ويهدف هذا البحث إلى استعراض أهم محطات مكتبتها، التي شكلت مرصداً معرفياً عميق الجذور والتأثير. وهي التي قدمت للجامعة كل ما تصبو إليه، وساعدتها على تحقيق أهدافها وغاياتها، ابتداء من وجود كلية واحدة حتى وصل عدد الكليات إلى عشرين كلية، إلى جانب عدد كبير من المراكز. كما ساعدت الجامعة على توفير متطلبات الدرجات العلمية التي تمنحها للباحثين، لا سيما عندما أصبحت المكتبة مركزاً لإيداع الرسائل الجامعية التي تناقش في الجامعات العربية المختلفة. ولم تتأخر مكتبة الجامعة للدخول إلى عوالم المكتبات الرقمية والإلكترونية كما انتسبت لمركز التميز، وحققت خطوات علمية وتقنية بحيث وضعت على خريطة التميز العربي والعالمي. ونظراً لتقدمها في مجال الخدمات والمعلومات فقد أصبحت هذه المكتبة مجالاً للتقييم والبحوث، وألفت فيها الرسائل الجامعية. وإذا كانت قد تراجعت في السنوات الأخيرة في مجالات التزويد والتصنيف والفهرسة والخدمات، وكان سبق ذلك ضعف في ميزانياتها التي ذهب معظمها إلى الدوريات الإلكترونية، فما يزال رصيدها في مجال البحث العلمي مقدراً، ويعتمد عليه أردنياً وعربياً. والأمل كبير في أن تلتفت الجامعة إلى مكتبتها التي قادت حركة المكتبات الأكاديمية في الأردن، وحظيت بالسمعة العربية والعالمية.
Two months ago, the University of Jordan celebrated its golden Jubilee, to mark Fifty years of its Foundation. The aim of this paper is to review its Library's main stations that formed an intellectual, deeply rooted and influential observatory. The Library offered to the University all what the latter aspired to, and helped it achieve its goals and objectives since the existence of only one college until the number of colleges raised to twenty colleges in addition to a large number of centers at the present time. The University also helped in providing researchers with requirements for scientific degrees, especially when the library became a center for filing the theses discussed in the various Arab universities. The University of Jordan Library was not long in coming to enter the worlds of electronic and digital libraries, and it was also affiliated to the Center of Excellence and achieved technical and practical steps to be placed on the map of the Arab and international excellence to the extent that due to excellence and advancement in the field of information and services, the University of Jordan Library has become an area of research and the title of many research theses. Whether the Library in the recent has retreated in the areas of supply, indexing, classification and services due to its limited budget that concentrated mostly on electronic Journals, its inventory of scientific research is still reliable and valued in both Jordan and the Arab countries. There are great hopes that the University of Jordan would pay more attention to its library, the library which led movement of academic libraries in Jordan, and received Arab and international reputable recognition.
