المستخلص: The research, in our hands, deals with the development stages of bookbinding (bibliopegy) which was achieved by Arab Muslims during the Abbassian Age. That age which witnessed a cultural and scientific renaissance that left a great imprint on Islamic culture. Because of that, bibliopegy had developed by Muslims who looked after this profession greatly and they made it more advanced because it had a great importance in maintaining the scientific efforts and protecting books from damage and loss in addition to the extra decoration and beauty of Arab Islamic books produced in that period. The research consists of three parts (hubs) preceded by introduction which is followed by conclusion. The first part concerns the essential nature and importance of bookbinding. The second part concerns the beginning of bibliopegy and its development especially that of Arabic and Islamic origins. The third parts concerns the study of tools and materials of bibliopegy at the Abbassian Age. The research is followed by a group of appendices which was distinguished by the historical importance because of its relation with the research subject. We conclude that bookbinding or bibliopegy of Arab Moslems had begun in a simple way, then it developed during the Abbassian Age until it reached its final from at the present time.
