الدكتور مصطفى جواد واحد من أعلام نهضة العراق في العصر الحديث ، وموسوعة معارف في اللغة والنحو والتصريف والبلاغة والشعر والأخبار والسير والقصص والوفيات والكتب والرجال ، والخطط والبلدان والآثار ، ذاع اسمه وانتشر في المجامع العلمية واللغوية العربية ، والمجالس الأدبية الفكرية . ومن الميادين الأخرى التي برزت فيها موهبته وسعة اطلاعه وغزارة علمه ميدان تحقيق النصوص . إن جهود الدكتور مصطفى جواد في فن تحقيق النصوص يصح أن تكون مدرسة قائمة بذاتها فهو لا يكتفي بنفض الغبار عن الكتب المحقق ونشره بل يعنى به عناية فائقة ، ثم يضيف إليه من سعة علمه ليكون مؤلفا ثانيا للكتاب المحقق وبذا تعم الفائدة ، لذا جاءت هذه الدراسة لتسلط الضوء على جهود هذا الرجل الكبير في مجال التحقيق، لأجل الوصول إلى هذا الهدف قسم البحث على ثلاثة مباحث، هي: المبحث الأول: وقام جاء بعنوان ((الخريف بالدكتور مصطفى جواد))، وقد تضمن اسمه ونسبه، ولادته ونشأته، ثقافته، شعره، وفاته. المبحث الثاني: وقد جاء بعنوان ((جهود الدكتور مصطفى جواد في التأليف والتحقيق))، وقد تضمن بيان جهوده في مجالي التأليف والتحقيق، مع عرض نماذج من نقده لبعض الكتب المحققة. المبحث الثالث: وقد جاء بعنوان ((منهج الدكتور مصطفى جواد في التحقيق))، وقد تضمن بيان منهجه في التحقيق من حيث نسخ المخطوط ومعايير ترتيبها، فضلا عن مكملات التحقيق من الفهارس والقسم الدراسي
Doctor Mustafa Jawad was one of the greatest figures in Iraq's rise in this modern time, and he was an encyclopedia in linguistics, grammar, morphology, rhetoric, poetry, biography, stories, books, designs, countries and archaeology, his name spread and became widely known in the Arabic scientific and linguistic institutes, and in the literary and intellectual councils. The efforts of doctor Mustafa Jawad in the art of textual criticism can be a perfect school by itself for he doesn’t only remove the dust from the criticized book and publish it, but he cares for it attentively, then he adds to it from his wide knowledge so he becomes as a second author for the criticized book thus it becomes more beneficial, therefore; this research came to focus on the efforts of this great man in the textual criticism field and to reach this goal the research is divided into three parts: The first part: it is titled "The definition of doctor Mustafa Jawad", it includes his name, lineage, birth, early life, education, poetry and his death. The second part: it is titled "The efforts of doctor Mustafa Jawad in writing and textual criticism field", it contains a declaration to his efforts in both writing and textual criticism fields as well as showing samples of his criticisms to some of the criticized books. The third part: it is titled "The procedure of doctor Mustafa Jawad in textual criticism", it includes a declaration to his method in textual criticism concerning copying the manuscript and the calibers of its arrangement as well as other textual criticism's integrals like the indexes and studious section.
