520 |a My former supervisor Dr. Ali Abdul-Hassain Zuwain chose to me the studying of Al-Kumait’s poetry semantically, and the subject becom (Semantic fields in Al-Kumait’s Diwan, Astudy and Dictionary). The Dictionary is eliminated after it’s completion and then the subject became (Semantic fields In Al-Kumait Bin Zaid Al-Asadi’s poetry). This study is divided into an introduction, preliminary and two parts: The preliminary is sub divided into two sections. The first gives us abrief account of Al-Kumait’s life and his poetical status. The second deals with the theory of Semantic fields. Part one discusses the verbals of nature and it is subdivided in to three chapters. The first (The verbals of the elements of divine nature) and it is subdivided in to two sections. The first deals with heaven, sun and moon. The second sheds the light on the stars, planets, and storms. Chapter two studies the verbals of the elements of earth nature and it is subdivided into three sections. The first deals with the verbals of the animal and it consists of two divisions. The verbals of civil animal and the verbals of brutal animal. The second studies the verbals of birds, crawlings, and in sects. The third discusses the verbals of plant and Chapter three discusses (the verbals of nature’s Phenomena) and it is subdivided into two sections. The first concerns with the verbals of distant nature’s phenomena and the second deals with the verbals of near nature’s phenomena. Part two covers the social and material verbals and it is subdivided into two chapters. The first sheds the light on the verbals of material civilization and it consists of four sections.(1) housing and furniture (2) clothes (3) foods and beverages (4) the decorative materials. Chapter two discusses the social verbals and it is subdivided into two sections (1) social verbals (2) Islamic verbals. Results: 1- There are verbals that are quoted for ameaning other than their original meaning and this is a semantic transformation from one case to another like in heaven which are mentioned with the meaning of clouds and moon which is taken from moon it which means whiteness, and it is named such for it’s whiteness and the word star which indicates the appearance and it’s semantic field is transformed to the heavenly field as it appears in night. Many of stars are named by the names of animals and other names like lion, scorpion, balance etc… and saturn is aplanet of satan and it is named such. Because it deviates from it’s position. 2- Al-Kumait used particalverbals for general verbals and vice versa and this is regarding particularism and generality as in his use of one of the flesh adjectives of the camel to siginfy to the general camel like Al-Kawma, Al-wagna, Al-Hadab , Al-Khadabeer, Al-shadkam and otherwise. 3- A lot of adjectives are transformed to the nominality by the usage to signify to the many names of animals like the adjectives of asnake which became nouns while they are adjectives in origin.
