تتمتع منطقة نجران بموارد تفتقر إليها مناطق كثيرة أخري في المملكة. وأن مناخها يظهر فيه شيء من الاعتدال في الحرارة، وأن مواردها المائية لا بأس بها. ورغم شح مطرها إلا أنها تستمد قدراً كبيراً من المياه مما تجلبه أوديتها من المرتفعات الواقعة غربها. ولعل طبيعة المنظفة المصدر لتلك المياه بصخورها قليلة النفاذية وبشدة الميول وضحالة التربة هي التي وفرت المياه لمنطقة نجران بالذات في المنطقة الوسطى والأراضي المنخفضة في الشرق. ألقت الدراسة الأضواء علي خصوصية العوامل المؤثرة في عنصر الأمطار ومن أهمها عامل الارتفاع عن سطح البحر، ووقوع نجران في ظل المطر في بعض الفصول في وجه المؤثرات القادمة من الغرب، وتعرضها للمؤثرات القادمة من الشرق، رغم أنها تكون قد ألقت بأغلب حمولتها قبل الوصول إلي المنطقة ما يؤدي إلي حرمانها من مما تحظي به غيرها في المرتفعات الجنوبية الغربية للملكة. استخدمت الدراسة العديد من الأساليب الإحصائية لدراسة خصائص الأمطار بنجران لإعطائها نتائج رقمية توثق التحليل وتعين علي دراسات معتمدة علي الإحصاء وعلي النمذجة. أبانت الدراسة أن الأمطار تلعب دورا رئيسا في حياة الناس والبيئة الطبيعية التي جعلت المنطقة مستفيداً رئيساً من ذلك المورد انحداراً من المرتفعات. وأبرزت الدراسة أهمية اعتماد خصائص الأمطار في تأسيس قواعد بيانات يمكن الاستفادة منها في التخطيط في كل المجالات المهتمة بمجال صيانة موارد المياه وترشيدها. \
Climatic studies, especially in rainfall, stand as the backbone of different geographic studies. They are especially important for planning in the area of water resources conservation. Najran is of special importance as it occupies high status in agriculture and tourism. The area has suffered from shortage in water supply and deterioration of sources. From here comes the importance of this study which showed the role of rainfall in creating the physical environment and the human activities in the area. The climate of Najran is characterized by relatively low temperatures compared with the tropical areas of similar latitudes, and by little amounts of rainfall. The present study highlighted the most effective factors in rainfall. The site of the area on the rain shadow deprived it from receiving bigger amounts of rain as received by other areas in the wind side of the southwestern highlands. The present study used different methods to analyze the characteristics of rainfall in Najran to restore figures that could be used in the studies that depend on statistics and modeling. Najran enjoys reasonable potential resources that many other places in the Kingdom don't have. Its climate shows relatively moderate temperatures. It has reasonable voluminous water resources though it has meager amounts of rainfall, as it used to receive water through it valleys from higher lands in the west, all through the geologic times. Water is contained in the aquifer of the central and eastern Najran area in comparatively large amounts that can support different economic activities for a long period to come. The study concluds with the warning of misuse of water resources if any steady safe socioeconomic development is targeted, and mentioned the new conserving methods of irrigation and planning. \
