|b The significance of the 2014 presidential elections of Egypt lies in becoming a criterion for the political legitimacy for the new regime in the 2nd referendum on the interim track of the post-July stage. Thus, the analysis of the results has to focus on the electorates’ tendencies, their impacts on political relations and the regime future. The race took place in several social and political circumstances and phenomena, among which are the conflict over legitimacy and the attempt to consolidate the new order. The report concentrates on two indicators. The first is the extreme quite in which the elections were held, void of any act of violence. Such healthy conditions may be a good foundation to resist the government’s approach of fighting terror. The second is that the process shook the image of the candidate Sisi, which all the state institutions exerted huge efforts to manufacture and enhance in the minds of the masses. Since the beginning of his election campaign as well as repeated and recorded appearances on satellite channels, the image started to go to the negative side. The above raises the question of a political action framework on the basis of restoring democracy. It can be argued that the Cairo Declaration constitutes basic political ideas to build on in the next stage in light of the consistent performance against legitimacy.
