The Israeli war on the Gaza Strip from July 7 to August 26, 2014 was partly informative and psychological, using statistics as a tool of the battle. The main hypothesis of the report argues that Israel often conceals the numbers related to its losses in the wars it engages in. That would maintain its internal front and convey a message to the enemy that it cannot be harmed. The study attempts to shed light on the human losses among soldiers and civilians, in addition to military and economic costs and losses. While following Israeli sources, despite a strict military censorship, a number of observations can be made. For instance, contradictory numbers were given. Furthermore, no specific statistics were provided about the damage of the Palestinian rockets on the Israeli side or the total number of those wounded among the soldiers or civilians. These confirm the hypothesis and could motivate the Palestinian and Arab scholars specialized in the Israeli affairs to trace and document the subject, rather than submitting to Israeli statistics or credibility. |
