NLP (Natural Language Processing) is a very delicate domain. It covers four levels of treatments: lexical, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic treatments. The Arabic language didn't benefit from the recent research especially in the syntactic level. In this context, our work lies within the conception of a HPSG (Head-driven Phrase Structure) grammar that covers the different syntactic phenomena of this language. The established grammar is based on a type hierarchy permitting to take into account the Arabic language's specificities. It is specified on TDL (Type Description Language) and tested on a parser generated by the LKB (Linguistic Knowledge Building) system.
