In Moroccan male written literature, images of women have been dominated by the dual, stereotypical representation of women either as devoted mothers and submissive housewives or as debauched, evil creatures .Given this fact and given the fact that women have started to impose themselves on the literary scene of Morocco, the present paper aims at finding out whether women’s written literature has been able to change this image or not. For this very purpose, I have chosen the poet Habiba Soufi due to the number of poems she has written on women and because she is one the best Moroccan poets writing in Arabic. |
