المستخلص: The present address aims at underlining the role of language resources (LRs) in applications involving the recognition of texts in standard unvowelled Arabic script, with special reference (a) to assessment procedures and (b) to lexical LRs in written Arabic NLP. Lexical LRs are very often difficult to access because of their being deeply embedded in the system that draws information from them. They are nevertheless crucial, which means that they need to be assessed together with the application software under examination. The presentation endeavours to show the role of indirect inference of the structure and categorizations used in lexical LRs as well as in analysers.
