The present article addresses the issue of derivational morphology in Moroccan Arabic (MA). Specifically, it is an attempt to trace back in time the different analyses of MA morphological structure. The rationale behind this critical survey is to spot the strong and weak points of these accounts in order to analyze the different responses to the research problematic in the area of MA morphology. The second, and more important, aim of this paper is to scrutinize the solutions brought in order to understand the dynamics that underlie MA structure, and to reflect on the scientific accumulation reached so far. |
