520 |a The research critically investigated the implementation of project management principles to improve quality delivery in the education system of Saudi Arabia by examining the usage of project management principles and importance put on quality by students, teachers, parents and government officials. Two guiding research questions were: what are the views of stakeholders on the use of project management principles in the Saudi Arabian education system and what the levels of importance they put on the quality of education. From 73 questionnaires and 25 interviews primary data was collected and from published journals and official publications within the ethical recommendations of the BERA (2011) and DMU code of ethics. Research participants; government officials were specifically and systematically chosen while students, teachers and parents were randomly chosen for face-to-face interviews and questionnaires. Research main findings were that key stakeholders’ responses indicated and acknowledge that project management principles are being used in Saudi Arabian education system as they indicated that there is continuous business justification, learning from experience, defined roles and responsibilities and focusing on education. Research results also indicated that the majority of respondents put high importance on quality of education. The implications coming from the research findings are that project management principles are unconsciously and unintentionally being used and the majority of respondents agree with the use of project management principles as well as having high importance on the quality of education. Therefore there is a need to develop a model based on project management principles which will work with existing knowledge and practices to further improve quality of both delivery and product (education).
