1-The percentage of the population under the national poverty line was 26.3% in 2012/2013, while it was 24.3% in 1990, such that the target to reduce the percentage to 12.2% in 2015 will not be achieved. 2-The percentage of the population under the extreme poverty line was 4.4% in 2012/2013, such that the goal of reducing this percentage to 4.4% in 2015 was achieved. 3-The highest percentage of population under the poverty line 49.4% was in the rural of Upper Egypt, while the lowest percentage 11.7% was in urban of Lower Egypt in 2012/2013. 4-The highest percentage of the poor was in Asyut Governorate 60% and the lowest percentage was in the Red Sea Governorate 2% in 2012/2013. 5- The value of Gini coefficient was 0.3% for total Egypt during the period (2008/2009-2012/2013). 6-The poverty percentage increased for all family size categories, percentage increasing was more remarkable in the large size families, where the percentage increased from 48% in 2008/2009 to 62% in 2012/2013 for families consisting of 8-9 members. 7-The highest percentage of the poor people was among illiterate 37%, the lowest percentage of poor people was among those have a college degree 9%, and 4% for those have post graduation degree in 2012/2013. 8-The highest percentage of poor was for those works outside establishments 36%, and the lowest percentage was among governmental sector employees 13% in 2012/2013. 9-The highest percentage of poor was for unpaid family workers 33.1%, and the lowest percentage was for business owners who employ others 22.3% in 2012/2013. 10- The highest percentage of poor was for among agriculture and fishing workers 36.3%, and the lowest percentage was among professions 8.6% in 2012/2013. 11-The highest percentage of poor was among seasonal employees 48.3% and the lowest percentage was among permanent employees 21.8% in 2012/2013. 12-The poor employees as a percentage of total employees was 25.2%, and this percentage increased in rural 31% comparing with urban 13.6% in 2012/2013.
