|b 1.The proportion of children to the total population decreased from 38.4% in 2006 to 36.4% in 2013. 2.The percentage of birth increased from 2.3% in 2006 to 6.1% of the total population in 2013. 3.The percentage of children in the age group (5-9 years) increased from 27.4% in 2006 to 29.3% of the total population in 2013. 4.The total enrollment rate in pre-primary education increased from 17.5% in 2006 to 26.6% in 2013. 5.Primary education had the highest total enrollment rate with equal proportion in both study years about 97% each. 6.Drop out rates was 7.5% for males and 5.5% for females in 2006, decreased to 6.5% for males and 5.8% for females in 2013. 7.Enrollment rate in secondary education decreased significantly from 80% for males and 82% for females in 2006/2007 to 66.8%, 62.1% respectively in 2012/2013. 8.There is an increase in enrollment rates in preparatory education of Upper Egypt governorates compared to Lower Egypt governorates, where Minia was the highest governorate in Upper Egypt in 2006/2007, about 57% for males and 43% for females compared to about 53% for males and 47% for females in 2012 / 2013. 9.Total infant mortality rate decreased from 19.4% in 2006 to 15.2% in 2012; also it decreased for males than females in urban and rural areas. 10.Mortality rate of child under five decreased from 25.3% in 2006 to 19.7% in 2012. 11.Respiratory system diseases were the main reasons for infant mortality in both years by 18.6%, then pregnancy and childbirth diseases, where the proportion rose from 12.1% in 2006 to 17.6 in 2012. 12.The percentage of male child workers to the total male children was 14.3% versus 4% of the total female child workers. 13.The percentage of working children currently enrolled in education, 65.1% or approximately two-thirds of the total working children (66.1.% For males and 61.3% for females). 14. 7.4% of the total working children who didn’t enroll in education at the age of enrollment and the proportion of females nearly three times of the ratio of males reaching 14.8% for females compared to 5.4% for males. 15.The percentage of working children who have dropped out of education, about a quarter (24.2%) of the total working children and the proportion of males 25.4% versus 19.7% for females, and the rate of urban areas was 38% versus 21.5% for rural areas. Recommendations: 1-Increasing family awareness of education importance in order to increase the primary education enrollment rate to reduce dropout rates. 2- Providing health services in all governorates and disseminating programs to raise mother and child awareness and improving family economic and social conditions. 3-Increasing awareness of the importance of combating the phenomenon of child labor and studying its causes, including strengthening the role of social solidarity.
