The paper aims to grasp interpretation and its issues with in Islamic Studies' specifically through the intellectual contribution of Imam al- Ghazali in this area. The paper highlights Imam al- Ghazali's contribution in the field of interpretation and concerned issues, especially those related to the problematic understanding of the Quranic and the Sunna's texts. The paper outlined Imam al- Ghazali's concept of interpretation , its necessity, and conditions of its validity, scope and situations, and what may be interrelated in Sharia' (Islamic Law), and may not be, and to whom it may be. In order to achieve this objective the researcher adopted the analytical and comparative approach to analyze the methods Imam al-Ghazali has employed in the treatment of interpretation and its issues. In addition to that, the researcher compared Imam's ideas and concepts in this regard in the light of the knowledge of his time and through the historic horizon pre-and post him (Imam Al- Ghazali), in order to show his agreement and disagreement with oilier pioneers of Islamic thought at the time. This led to the identification of the true value of his contribution in this regard.\
