يمثل تطبيق الرقم الوطني تحقيق الكثير من الأهداف منها: التحديد الدقيق للشخصية عند التعامل مع مختلف أجهزة الدولة من خلال إصدار وثيقة تعريفية مؤمنة. سهولة وسرعة الاستعلام عن بياناته. القضاء على مشكلة تشابه الأسماء بتخصيص رقم فريد لكل شخص لا يتكرر منذ مولده وحتى بعد وفاته. بناء قاعدة بيانات يمكن الاستفادة منها في التخطيط المستقبلي وإعداد الإحصائيات الدقيقة لمختلف قطاعات الدولة. يوفر نظام تطبيق الرقم الوطني المحوسب نظاما محوسبا متكاملا شاملا على مستوى الدولة ويكون أساسا لبنك معلومات سكاني (مستمر) يتيح لمؤسسات الدولة معلومات وإحصائيات شاملة عن المواطنين والأجانب وبأشكال متعددة. ويكون الرقم الممنوح لكل شخص مفتاحا للوصول إلى بياناته الشخصية أينما وردت في كافة المؤسسات والوزارات وسيستخدم في مختلف الوثائق والمعاملات الخاصة بالأشخاص. حيث تم تصميم النظام ليكون نظاما حيا ومتفاعلا يقبل التوسع والتغيير في بنيته الأساسية ومحتواه اعتمادا على أحدث المعايير العالمية وأحدث لغات البرمجة الحديثة باستخدام قاعدة البيانات أوراكل. \
Application of the national number will achieve several objectives represented in accurate identification of a person when dealing with different governmental authorities by issuing a secure identification document. Easy and quick inquiry of the persons’ data will end the problem of similarity of names by specifying a unique number for each person, which is not repeated from birth to death, even after his death. Build a database that can be used in future planning and preparation of accurate statistics of different sectors of the State. The national number application will provide a comprehensive and integrated computerized system at the State level and it will form a basis for a demographic information bank (sustainable) to provide the State’s institutions with information and complete statistics about the members of the society (citizens and foreigners) in various forms. The number assigned to each person will be a key to access to his identification data wherever found in all agencies and ministries of the State and such number will be used in all documents and transactions of the persons. The system was designed to be a vivid and interactive system, expandable and changeable in its infra-structure and content based on the latest international standards and latest programming modem languages using Oracle database. \
