The main objective for the application of operations research is to find an optimum solution for the problem under study, taking into consideration a given set of certain constraints. The most commonly used model in this field is the "Linear Programming Model", which tries to reach the organization’s objectives through the search for the best possible alternative applications with specified objective function under determined range of constraints This study is an application of the linear programming model (LP) in the area of soft drinks, the case of Arak Company for Food Manufacturing. The main problem was to achieve a level of an optimum management of resources for the company’s products with the maximum profit. However, the objective function and constraints were also identified. This was done under the assumption that the company was not adopting the LP model. Secondary data were used in the analysis, and mainly were made available from the company’s different related departments or sections by using WINQSP package, an optimum solution was achieved. A comparative analysis between the company’s actual and the optimum production was conducted. The study revealed that a better maximization of the profit could be made by applying the same resources of the year 2003. The analysis of the production process revealed some major obstacles that hinder the production process. This could be summarized into three main factors: the first one is the process of setting up and preparing machines, which in most cases need technical cadre to be imported from outside the Sudan. This in turn may cause serious delay and hence deters the production mechanism. The second factor is connected with the availability of raw materials from the local market. The third factor may be related to the availability of skilled workers and the problem of products packing. The study suggested that training of a specialized technical staff is essential. Moreover, the necessity of setting up a computer system for monitoring and detecting errors in production with the objective of controlling the quality of production as well as minimizing waste and adjusting for man made lapse or faults.
إن نظم بحوث العمليات مرتبطة عمليا بقواعد اتخاذ القرار على ضوء النماذج المحدودة (Deterministic Modeling) والنظم الاحتمالية (Probabilistic Systems) المأخوذة في الحياة العملية. والغرض الأساسي من تطبيق بحوث العمليات هو تحديد أمثل (Optimum) حل للمشكلة قيد الدراسة تحت ظل قيود محدودية الموارد وباستخدام نماذج البرمجة الخطية البرمجة الخطية هي إحدى الأساليب الرياضية المهمة لبحوث العمليات بدئ استخدامها بصورة رسمية في سنة (1947) على يد العالم الرياضي (George Dantzing) لحل بعض مشكلات التخطيط في سلاح الطيران التابع للجيش الأمريكي. إن البرمجة تبحث في توزيع الموارد المحدودة بين الاستخدامات البديلة ضمن إطار القيود المفروضة لتحقيق أهداف المنشأة وذلك في حالة تعظيم (Maximize) دالة الهدف وتعرف البرمجة الخطية بأنها الأسلوب الذي يهتم بالاستخدام الأمثل للموارد المحدودة لتلائم الأهداف المطلوبة. مشكلة الدراسة أن الشركة تنتج خمسة أنواع من المنتجات ولكنها تعاني مشكلة التوظيف الأمثل للإنتاج الذي يحقق أعلى ربحية، أهداف الدراسة في تطبيق نموذج البرمجة الخطية للشركة وإيجاد البدائل الممكنة لحل المشكلات، التي تعرف الإنتاج الأمثل مجال الدراسة بشركة أراك للصناعات الغذائية استخدمنا فيها المنهج وصف تحليلي بشقيه النظري والتطبيقي. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن هناك معوقات في العملية الإنتاجية قسمت إلى ثلاثة عوامل رئيسية هي التعبئة والماكينات وشح مدخلات الإنتاج وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة تأهيل العمالة وإدخال الحاسب الآلي في خطوط الإنتاج.
