This research is entitled (The problem of Adverb Sentence Tense in the Traditional Grammar and its Effects on Understanding the Qura'nic Text, a Pragmatic Comparison), it is an attempt to resolve the tense problem in the adverb sentence that had been put by a number of the ancient grammarians who were followed by a number of the modern ones, they had divided adverb according to the tense, or time,:- past, present and future and this obscures the sentence meanings spatially in case of applying on analyzing the texts that have deep meaning on the top of which the Holy Qur’an. The research is divided into a preface, two topics, a conclusion that includes the most important results, and a bibliography. The preface is devoted to show the pragmatic method principles till it become a branch of the modem linguistics known as the pragmatic linguistics that studies linguistics and literature according to its condition of production, receiving and social functions. The first topic studied the term of adverb in linguistics and grammatical tradition, while the second topic dealt with the tense problem in adverb. The most important results that the research obtained are:- 1- The adverb sentence is arranged in the text according to its three functional elements:-the semantic, structural and pragmatic, so, studying it within the structural element would affect deducing its rich significances, hence following the pragmatic method is the right select because it includes the adverb semantic, structural and pragmatic functions. 2- The research proved the wrongness of dividing adverb according to time and the resulted terms that helped in obscuring the sentence meaning because it did not fit with the grammarians interpretations that tried to push it back to refused previous theoretical purposes.
