The Arabic Poetry represent a clear record of what people went through in their daily lives, particularly the events and conditions that are associated with Time and Place and are affected by the things that affect people especially the economic, social and religious environment and therefore poetry becomes the untainted record in narrating the events in the Pre-Islamic, Islamic and Umayyad Period where poetry was the sincere advocate of Arabic way of life and its activities and events and how it is related to their reality and how this reality help to understand the supreme values that are associated with the dogmatic thinking which in turn, works to build a coherent relationship between the individual and his community based on the mutual obligations and duties that involve the social and economical relations that had been influenced by environmental and geographical circumstances that define their living patterns as they are closely associated in their composition with the Arab personality. Hence, this type of poetry draws the attention of a lot of old and modern studies and writings to study and discuss its themes, its artistic features and its structure of those poems and to show how those poets affect their surroundings and to show the major forces that affected them. This study deals with Hunger In Arabic Poetry Till The End Of Umayyad Period. The study tries to explain the motives that stimulate Arabic poets to tackle the theme of Hunger and aims at exploring the techniques used by those poets to dramatize Hunger in their poetry. The researcher thought that it is suitable that the skeleton of his research be divided into an introduction and three chapters and a conclusion. The thesis is set out according to the following chapter structure: 1-Chapter One, is an introductory, it tries to give an idea about the background of Arabic Poetry and how it treats the idea of Hunger in three different periods the Pre-Islamic, the Islamic and the Umayyad period. It also tries to address the factors leading Hunger on those periods. 2-Chapter Two is dedicated to discuss hunger in the poetic purposes. The chapter is devoted to praising and eulogy tribute then it comes glory and pride and ended with the defamatory and satire. This chapter also discusses hunger in erotic and love poetry. 3-Chapter Three is about technique. The first section deals with the style and the language of the poet who felt hunger. The second section concentrates on the poetic images used by those poets. 4-Chapter Four is a conclusion which sums up the major findings of the study. |
