المستخلص: Thıs thesıs ıncludes four chapters . The first chapter treats with the history of Constantinople since the stage of its foundation by the Great Constantine in A.D 330 , passing through the defences of the city and its fortified walls , the significance of its location from defensive and commercial aspects , and the importance of the city from the social , economical and religious aspects in Roman Byzantine . The second chapter tackles the internal and the external politics of the empire and how the emperor achieves his work and before that how he got over the reign and the conditions which should be found in the emperor. The focus is on the Byzantine army from the aspects of its preparations , the centers of distribution , and its arms . Then the Roman Byzantine politics is displayed . this politics was in Syria "Al-sham" before the reign of Islam and the methods of administration of that country in order to remain it under the control of Byzantine . Also , the relationship between Constantinople and Islam after the prophetic mission , the reasons behind the confrontation between the Romans and Muslims , and the most important battles between these two forces in Al-Sham and Egypt are displayed . The third chapter includes how the Omayyad state was formed and the transfer of the caliphate capital from Al-Madina to Damascus and what dose that mean to the Islamic world .

In order to give a clear image about the balance of military forces between the two parties , there is a distinguished topic about the Omayyad army which launched battles against the Byzantine , about the Islamic marine and the elements of its foundation which launched violent battles against the Roman during the sieges of Constantinople . The last chapter sheds light on the Arabic and Islamic campaigns to conquer Constantinople and the battles between them and the accompanied events . Much of old and modern Arabic resources are consulted in addition to the subject . The thesis concludes many things such as that the reasons behind the recurrent campaigns by Muslims are that they aimed to propagate the Islamic religion all over Europe and after the failure of those attempts the Islamic armies chose Spain (Andalus) to transfer religion to Europe through that gate. The fortifications of this strong city and the nature of the currents of the sea contributed to deter the Islamic attempts , and the effect of the Greek fire which was used by the Byzantine army was great on the Islamic armies but it was not the major element because Muslims had catchers in their ships which seiged Constantinople many times . Those attempts fixed historical rights to the latter generation which were invested by the Islamic Ottomans who conquered the city in A.D 1453 , and they rendered it Islamic and the "Ahadith" of the prophet Muhammad who predicted this conquer becomes real .
