|a One of the most honorable branches of knowledge is that which is related to the Glorious Quranic . On top of these branches is the science of Quranic Recitations . This science deals with the articulation of sounds and the correct pronunciat- ion of the Quran words in the same way as they were heard from our prophet ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) by his companions . The Islamic nation has given this science considerable attention since the emergence of Islam and up till now . A great many scholars dedicated a lot of efforts and time dealing with this science . Among those scholars is Abu Omar Hafs Bin Omar AL-Douri ( 150 – 246 Hijri ) . He reported the recitations of the Ten Re citers and others . He was depended on by Abu Bakr bin Mujahid in reporting two of the seven Recitations namely : Abu Amr Bin AL- 'Alaa' AL-Basri's ( 68 - 154 Hijri ) and Ali Bin Hamza AL-Kisaa'i's ( 119 - 189 Hijri ) . He was also depended on by those who wrote on recitation . Other than the ten depending his reported recitations from AL-Imam AL-Hassan AL-Basri (21 – 110 Hijri ) . I tried to collect three reported recitations in this thesis under the title ( Hafs Bin Omar AL-Douri and his reporting of Quranic Recitations ) .
|a Abu Omar AL-Douri had shown interest in the Quranic recitations since he was young . He was taught by prominent figures such as Ali Bin Hamza AL-Kisaa'I , Abu Na'eem Shujaa' Bin Nasr AL-Balkhi ( died 190 Hijri) , Yehya Bin AL-Mubarak AL-Yazidi ( died 202 Hijri ) . He taught recitation to a lot of people for during his life time . AL-Douri was not interested in recitation only but rater he showed great interest in reporting Hadith . Great scholars of Hadith had reported from him like Ahmed Bin Hanbal ( 164 – 241 Hijri ) , Ibn Majah ( 209 – 273 Hijri ) , Ibn Khuzayma ( 223 – 311 Hijri ) , Ibn Hibban ( died 354 Hijri ) and other . He had also knowledge in Arabic which he took from Yehya Bin AL-Mubarak AL-Yazidi . He was give the name of a grammarian some of the Quran interpreters adopted his opinions in interpreting some Quranic verses such as Al-Nahhaas (died 338 Hijri ) , AL-Tha'labi ( died 427 Hijri ) ' Ibn AL-Jawzi ( died 597 Hijri ) and others . He had seven books ( six of them deal with Quran and the other with Fiqh ) . Scholars of recitation reported his recitation in different books ; I tried to gather then in one study for the sake of comprehens - iveness . This study falls into four chapters . The first chapter is an introduction giving AL-Douri's biography . The three other chapters represent his reporting from Abu Amr Bin AL- 'Alaa' AL-Basri , Ali Bin Hamza AL-Kisaa'i and AL-Hassan AL-Basri . Each chapter of these three is divided into four sections dealing with the recital's biography,A racing back the recitation , the origin of AL- Douri's reporting and the way in which the Quran words are uttered according to AL-Douri's reported recitation .
