المستخلص: It is important for any student who chooses to write about literary subjects to have a good knowledge about the subject chosen. It is a fact that Jordan literature, precisely its poetry, is not deeply researched in comparison with the literature of the other Arabic countries. This is actually one reason for choosing Haider Mahmood's poetry as a subject for our study, though there were many obstacles such as the lack of the sources and the complex circumstances in our country. However, this researched is divided into an introduction and five chapters. The introduction handles the Jordan literature from a historical point of view. It also presents some important information about the most important poets in Jordan, those poets are to be distributed according to their birth places, and some hints about their major works will also be presented here. Chapter one presents some details about the life of Haider Mahmood. This chapter tackles many subjects concerning the poet. The first subject this chapter presents is the growth of this poet, his birth place and year when he was born. We will also present information about the first time the writer began to write poetry and the reason behind his desire to be a poet, in addition to some details about the poet's education and his position between Jordan poets. Chapter two is to clarify the main subjects handled by Haider Mahmood in his poems. Haider Mahmood was a nationalist in his writings and that was very clear in his works. He loves his country so that he tried to present something through his poems. Chapter three clarifies how the writer was affected by the many problems of the other countries of the Arab Land, Haider Mahmood showed a great interest towards the Palestinian problem. He wrote about the bad circumstances in Palestine the whole of his life.

Chapter four is to present an investigation of the religious side in Haider Mahmood's poems. His education is actually based on many religious bases. He talked lots about the Holly Qur'an and its role in unifying the whole Arabic community. This is in accordance with the importance of the prophet's words. The poet also gave a great consideration for the most important religious persons, all are mentioned within this chapter. Chapter five concentrates on the art of Haider Mahmood in his poems. This chapter will be divided into three sections. Section one concentrates on his style in using the language in a very idiomatic and organized way in his poems. The poet gives an importance for "repetition" as a characteristic in his language. In addition to this characteristic, the poet uses many others such as "ellipsis" where he builds his language on, and the "image" where he creates his own literary image. Visual image is paid the whole attention in this side. Many other characteristics are mentioned in this chapter reflecting the real style of Haider Mahmood and the impact he leaves on the readers. Finally the conclusion ends the thesis with some findings concluded on the bases of the preceding chapters. Here it is important to give a hint that different resources where collected, generally talking about Jordan poetry and precisely about Haider Mahmood's poetry, including the main literary works and recent Jordan poetry, such as: Recent Jordan Literature for Ahmed Al-Muslih; Lectures in Recent Jordan and Palestinian Poetry, the Literature Movement in Jordan till the year 1977 for Dr. Fawaz A. ;Al-Tokan; The Structure of Jordan Poetry for Abdullah Rhadhwan; Amman Literary Antillogia for Dr. Hani Al-Amad; Amman Book: Conversations Collection for Dr. Haider Mahmood, Nazar Khabani and Dr. Muhammed A.
