This thesis is about cAbd cAlaziz Al- Doüri a new outlook and Methodlogy in writing Arab- Islamic history . This thesis is divided into an Introduction, three chapters and a Conclusion. Chapter One is entitled "Al-Doüri between the two Factors: Influence and the Originality of Thought". The first section of this chapter is devoted to his own birth, bringing and his study at the primary, intermediate and secondary schools in Al-Doür town and Baghdad. The second section deals with his trip to London and his study at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) which granted him his B. A. and Ph. D. The third section sheds light on Al-Doüri's life between his return to Iraq at the end of 1942 and his immigration from Iraq in 1968, his academic and administrational achievements during this period. Chapter Two, entitled "Al-Doüris Works" is subdivided into three sections. The first one is devoted to Al-Doüri's view of political history especially the Caliphate, the second deals with the economical history in which Al-Doüri was a pioneer, and the third examines Al-Doüri's ideas and opinions in Planning and Construction. Chapter Three is devoted to Al-Doüri's methodology in writing Arabian-Islamic history and is subdivided into three sections. The first section deals with Al-Doüri's view of the history science and its philosophy, the second section entitled "Al-Doüri betweent Neutrality and Partiality" sheds light on Al-Doüri's moderate method and his emphasis on the neutrality of the researcher. The third section entitled "Al-Doüri and the Orientalist Method" shows the orientalists opinions in Islamic history and Al-Doüri's point of view concerning their ideas. The Conclusion sums up the most important results of the study.
