This report shows investigations in the Core Annular Flow (CAF) in pipes which considered as a very important application in the petroleum engineering. It is about the summarization of many journals and experiments which have been undertaken in this field that helped to analyse and understand what is happening when the multiphase flow runs in pipes. This report highlights experiments that include water and oil in pipe and what happened between their surfaces such as waves and its shapes, length and effect. In addition, it will explore the comparison among the pressure gradient in all the flow patterns. The report consists of two important aspects in the CAF which are wave behaviour and flow patterns. The shape and capacity of the wave can be controlled by many factors such as the volume flow rate, the velocity and the Reynolds number. The Core Annular Flow (CAF) can occur if both of the two fluids were immiscible and their viscosities are different; otherwise, the CAF will not occur. At the end of this project, there is a computational experiment undertaken by the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD - ACE) to show the occurrence of the CAF in pipes after inserting all the parameters to the software.
