|b Political geography interested in studying the effect of the natural, human and economic elements on the state in terms of strength or weakness. To analyze the state policy the geographical conditions must be recognized and defined so that we can understand the domestic and foreign policy. The internal geographical conditions, represented by the distribution of resources and population among the regions of the State, reflected on all the economic, political, military and psychological elements. This study is to shed light on the geographical conditions in the Al- Jazeera region of Iraq and their impact on the state power. The region astronomical site is between latitudes (°33 3‾ – °37 5‾) to the north, and between longitudes (°41 5‾ ˗ °37 7‾) to the east with an area of 49721 km2 which forms 11.5% of the total area of Iraq. It includes the West sections that located to the west of Tigris River from the provinces of Ninevah and Salahuddin and the northern part of Al- Anbar province. With its western boundaries, it is adjacent to Syria and Turkey. The demographic aspect had been focused on. Al- Jazeera region of Iraq is distinguished with the ethnic diversity in the province of Nineveh where it serves as an ethnographic museum, as described by Dr. Shaker khasbak, which may allow foreign intervention under the pretext of protection the minorities, and that, in its turn, affects the security and stability of the region. The population density in the region is 66 person / km2 comparing with the population density of Iraq which is 68, 7 person / km2 according to the estimation of 2007. The population concentrates in the interior parts of the region specifically near the rivers and the water resources in a way that affected the investment of the region human and natural resources, as well as the political, economic and military conditions of the state. The study includes five chapters: 1. Chapter one: in which we dealt with the study theoretical frame, which includes: - the study problem, the study hypotheses, the study limits, the study methods, the study importance, the previous studies and the study structure. It also includes the terms and concepts relating the study subject. 2. Chapter two: studies the natural elements of Al- Jazeera region, which includes the geographical location (the astronomical site, and the site for the neighboring countries, and the strategic location), and geological structure, topography, climate, soil, water resources , and natural vegetation . 3. Chapter three: deals with the population elements of the region in terms of number and growth , the geographical distribution, population culture, the proportion of concentration , and the age and gender, economic structures as well as the environmental distribution. 4. Chapter four: is devoted to the economic fundamentals of the region, which are represented by the agricultural activity and its relationship to state strength, as well as the pastoral economy , the mineral wealth, industrial activity , transportation and its relationship to state strength, and tourism . 5. Chapter five: is a summary of the study results that the study concludes which show the political importance of Al-Jazeera region on the military, security, economic and political levels. These chapters are followed by the recommendations that explain the study results.
