المستخلص: The theoretical framework adopted in this paper is deeply anchored in Critical Discourse Analysis and conceives of music as a social clue-bearing discourse that reveals the social affiliation of the processes of its production and reception. To illustrate this phenomenon, Islamic Sufi music is taken as a case study. The critical review of the literature reveals the close nexus between musical discourse and people’s beliefs systems and rituals. Sufi Sama' is a complex socio-cultural phenomenon that calls into play various dimensions.
