This work aims to be an approach for both productions of Fernando Savater: his essays and his novelistic production. It is well known that reading literature leads to a better understanding of the ideology of the authors. But is it possible to establish the formation of values from literary readings? This is the greatest goal of our work: to affirm that the literary readings of the Basque thinker have played a crucial role in the formation of his philosophical ideas. Fernando Savater is best known for his philosophical essays more than his narrative production, which is mostly of the adventure genre. However, both works are tightly related. Both types of work are two sides of the same coin. By following the traces which that thought left in his narrative production, specifically in The Great Maze, we want to decrypt, with a critical reading, the thematic codes relating to this production of essays. We also intend to interpret the significance behind the adventure novel of Savater, and the relation between this genre and his thinking. |
