المستخلص: This study approaches through a different perspective, the Sort Stories of Cuba (1940) written by Lydia Cabrera, to avoid examining the texts as a merely ovation for the Afro-Cuban folklore, and to try analyzing its position as a mediator - through the function of the multiple types of characters- between the old African traditions and the new Latin American Literature, especially the future literary movement which will be known as: Magic Realism. This analysis, far from supposing a rupture between the literary traditions, solely intends to keep searching for the continuous circular schemes of the collective imaginary.
