يدرس البحث ماهية الإبداع الفني، ويبين ماهية المبدع ومصادر الإبداع وأهدافه، وتفسيرات العملية الإبداعية لدى القدماء والمحدثين وعلى رأسهم الشعراء المعاصرون. ويدرس البحث مراحل العملية الإبداعية، وتكامل عناصر الإبداع الفني. ويبرز البحث أن العملية الإبداعية تقوم على التفاعل بين عنصرين هما العنصر الوراثي وعنصر البيئة والاكتساب. وأن المبدع هو الذي يمتلك القدرة على إدراك الروابط المفقودة بين الأشياء، واستكشاف العلاقات، ثم تفكيكها وإعادة صياغتها بروابط جديدة لها العلاقة الأوثق بنفسيته وطريقته المتميزة في تناول الأمور. ويبين أن معظم العلماء والنقاد القدماء والمحدثين قد قالوا بالاستعداد الفطري عند المبدع، حتى أولئك الذين طمسوا دور العقل الواعي في العملية الإبداعية جعلوا الإنسان الملهم إنسانا متميزا بفطرته عن الآخرين في قدرته على تلقى الإلهام. ويبين البحث أن القصيدة بشكلها المتكامل الأخير تصبح كائنا مستقلا بذاته يحمل أفكار الشاعر التي امتزجت بتجربته الشعرية، والصور التي أصبحت ذات علاقات جديدة مرتبطة بذاته، واللغة والأسلوب والموسيقى، التي لا تمتلك إرادة الشاعر تحديد نوعها.
Research examines the nature of artistic creation, and shows what the creator and the sources of creativity and goals, and interpretations of the creative process with the ancient and modern poets, led by contemporaries.
