المستخلص: يعتبر العدد ذا أهمية بالغة في الوجود الإنساني كله، حيث كان له حضور مميز في الفكر الإنساني، يمارس طقوسه بكل قوة وقدسية في تفاعلات الإنسان الاجتماعية والفردية والفكرية والعقائدية. ولعل من أكثر تلك الأعداد شيوعًا، وأكثرها ارتباطًا بما هو أسطوري وقدسي، نجد الأعداد: واحد، ثلاثة، أربعة وسبعة، وتسعة، التي نالت جميعها مكانة مميزة عند الأمم القديمة ومعتقداتها. ولعل هذه المكانة الخاصة التي تبوأتها ترجع في الأساس إلى ارتباطها بدلالات سحرية وقدسية في الكثير من تلك المعتقدات، وفي بعض الديانات، ولدى عدد من الشعوب وحضاراتها كذلك.
وحكايات ألف ليلة وليلة تزخر بالكثير من النصوص التي تؤدي هذه الأعداد، كلاً أو جزءًا، دورًا في متونها الحكائية، من حيث ارتباطها ببعض الرموز القدسية في التفكير الإسلامي وكذلك من حيث تعبيرها عن الجانب الرمزي لمتطلبات مؤلفي هذه الحكايات وآمالهم ومطالبهم الاجتماعية والفكرية والنفسية. ونجد من بين هذه الحكايات قصة "الملك شهريار وشهرزاد"، وقصة "الوزير شمس الدين وأخيه نور الدين"، وقصة "الصياد والعفريت" وقصص أخرى تزخر بها الليالي.
تبحث هذه الدراسة في رمزية العدد "ثلاثة" في قصة "الوزير شمس الدين وأخيه نور الدين" من حيث ارتباطه بمجموعة من القيم الاجتماعية المقدسة ومن حيث تمثيله لحالة سيكو- اجتماعية يمر بها الأبطال الثلاثة لهذه الحكاية.
من هنا تحاول هذه الدراسة التطبيقية على أنموذج عالمي للأدب الشعبي (ألف ليلة وليلة) البحث عن الآلية النفسية التي تضمن للآداب الشعبية استمراريتها وشعبيتها وتجعلها تمارس حضورها بفاعلية في الوعي الفكري وفي اللاوعي الجماعي لشعب من الشعوب أو أمة من الأمم.

The number has been regarded with a high level of significance in respect to the whole human existence, in the case where it held a distinct position within the human thought and its rituals were practiced with vigor and reverence in man’s social, individual, intellectual and belief-based interactions. Perhaps, from among the most common of those numbers and of those most linked to that which has been regarded to have legendary and sacred connections, we find the numbers: One, three, four, seven and nine, all of which attained a distinguished place or standing among ancient nations and their beliefs. Perhaps, this special standing which they held returns, in origin, to their connection to magical and holy indications related to many of those beliefs, some of the religions and also among numerous peoples and civilizations.
The “One Thousand and One Nights” tales are abundant with many texts, in which these numbers, as a whole or partially, fulfil a role within the texts of the tales. That is in terms of their connection to some sacred symbols within the Islamic thought and also in terms of expressing a symbolic side to the demands of the authors of these tales, their hopes and their social, intellectual and dispositional demands. We find among these tales, the story of “King Shahryar and Shahrazad”, the story of the “The Vizier Shams Al-Din and his brother Nur al-Din”, the story of “The fisherman and the elf” among other stories which the “Nights” are filled with.
This study examines the symbolism of the number “Three” in the story of “The Vizier Shams Al-Din and his brother Nur al-Din” in respect to its connection to a host of sacred social values and in terms of its demonstration of the psycho-socio state, which the three heroes of this tale pass through.
Hence, this applied study, undertaken upon a world model of popular literature (One Thousand and One Nights”, attempts to examine the psychological or dispositional mechanisms which guarantee the continuation of popular literature and its popularity, and which make it hold an effective presence within the intellectual consciousness and collective unconsciousness of a certain people or nation.
