المستخلص: كان القرن التاسع عشر غنيا من الناحية الفكرية والفلسفية. فقد جسد النصف الاول منه المدرسة الرومانسية بكل تفاصيلها، فيما كان النصف الثاني منه بروز المدرسة الواقعية كرد فعل واقعي للمدرسة الرومانسية. ابرز شعراء المدرسة الرومانسية من تلك الفترة : لامارتين و فيكتور هيجو والفريد دو فيني. تميز الشاعر الفرح. دو فيني بأسلوبه الفلسفي المعبر عن جوارحه، وباستخدامه للرموز الموجودة في الطبيعة، مستعينا بها ليعبر من خلالها عن مشاعر واحساسه المرهف بالرغم من تشاؤمه الدائم لما يحدث في عالمنا من تغيرات تضر بالطبيعة البشرية . عبر الشاعر عن ضمير الانسانية في قصائده مستعينا ببعض الرموز، وفي هذا البحث البسيط اخترنا قصيدتين : الاولى وعنوانها بيت الراعي والثانية وعنوانها الاقدار. في هاتين القصديتين كان الشاعر متشائما، ولكن تشاؤمه كان متعاليا ومتكبرا لأحساسه بالكبرياء امام قوى الطبيعة وامام أقدارها الحتمية التي ربما هزمته ولهذا السبب كان متشائما.

The nineteenth century was thoughtfully and philosophically rich. It embodied, the first half of this century, the romanticism in its all details; while the second half represented the entrance of the realism as realistic reaction against the romanticism. The famous poets in that period were Lamartine, Victor Hugo, and Alfred de Vigny. Vigny was distinguished by his philosophical style that expressed his pain and his sufferance, using the symbols, existed in the nature. He used these metaphorical symbols to express his emotions, and his passions despite his permanent pessimism of the worse events happening in our world. The poet also expresses the human consciousness in his poems by using the actual symbols. In this simple research, we choose two poems: the first, entitled (the house of the of the shepherd), and the second, entitled (the destinies), in which the poet was pessimist; but his pessimism reflects a man of high principles in front of the power of the nature which perhaps defeated him. Therefore, he was pessimist.
