تناول هذا البحث موضوعات شعر السجون في العصر العباسي، وقد جعل غرضي الشكوى والعتاب أنموذجا له، وقد هدف إلى التعرف على بعض هذه الموضوعات، والتعرف على الدافع الذي من أجله كان الشعراء یُرمون في ظلمات السجون، كما حاول أن یقف على التعریف بأهم الشعراء الذین كان السجن مسكنا لهم في أوقات كثیرة، وأصبحوا یدفعون بشكواهم وعتابهم لمن كان سببا في سجنهم؛ ل ذا جاء هذا البحث في مبحثین، حوى المبحث الأول: الشكوى والشعراء الذین كتبوا فیها داخل السجن، و اختص المبحث الثاني ب:"العتاب وشعرائه الذین كتبوا فیه"، هذا وقد خرج هذا البحث بنتائج، منها: شعر السجون لم یخرج عن طرق النظم المحددة في القصیدة العربیة، ولم یستحدث أسالیب جدیدة وفهم جدید في رسم العمود الشعري، ومن توصیاته تتبع بقیة موضوعات شعر السجون في العصر العباسي، وبقیة الشعراء الذین أُودوا فیه لسبب من الأسباب.
