This study attempts to explore and analyze the trends of religiosity in the Sudan in connection with the emerging ideologically-induced aggression in Sudanese urban milieu. It traces the trajectory of religion (Islam) through the history of the Sudan to emphasize its peaceful nature. It then provides a number of ideologically-induced cases of aggression which took place recently in Khartoum and the Gezira, after which many people lost their lives. This suggests that ideologically-induced aggression in Sudan is a recent phenomenon resulting from, inter alia: weakness of the traditional religious institutions, inefficiency of guidance institutions, defect in education (general and higher) and the negative effect of the media.
