Political Participation of Sudanese Women through the Quota System Most of the legislations in the Arab countries do not approve quota system on the ground that it represents a breach of an important constitutional principle, which is equality. Moreover, applying this system gives the impression that women are not capable to reach through by their own. On the other hand, some people believe that it is a fast and efficient tool to solve the problem of the political under-representation of women, whether in the parliament or in the government. It also contributes to activate the role of women in society in general and in parliamentary life in particular through the creation and preparation of women cadres who have an advantage in the parliamentary work. Sudan interim constitution has adopted this system, despite the controversy and debate about it in different countries. This paper is addressing this debate by focusing on the Sudanese experience.
