تعد مجلة الطفل أداة ثقافية وتربوية وإعلامية وترفيهية يملكها الطفل وتعبر عن عصرها وزمانها, وتقوم بمهمة نقل وغرس القيم المبادئ ومعايير السلوك, وتدعمها إيجابًا وسلبًا من خلال التعبير اللغوي, والصور الذهنية، وتشكل الطفل بالأفكار والقيم والفضائل التي تؤكدها له، وتقنعه بها من خلال قصصها وموضوعاتها وأبطالها، وتتميز أيضًا بقدراتها على تشكيل ذوق الطفل والمساهمة في تكوين شخصيته، بل وتعتبر مسئولة إلى حد كبير عن تحديد نوعية القراءات في المستقبل، الجاد منها أو التافه والرخيص، ولذلك فإنها مسئولة إلى حد كبير، عن تحديد نوعية وملامح هذه الشخصية مستقبلاً، وهذا يجعلها على قدر كبير من الأهمية. من خلال دراسة تحليلية لمضمون مجلة العربي الصغير- الكويتية- تمهيدًا لفهم طبيعة المجلة عمومًا، ومن ثم توضيح الأدوار العامة التي تؤديها المجلات في بناء شخصية الطفل إذ إن المجلة تمد الطفل بالألفاظ والجمل والعبارات والأفكار والصور والأخيلة التي يوظفها الطفل عندما يتحدث أو يكتب مما يرقي بأحاديثه وكتاباته. \
Child magazine is considered as a cultural, educational, informative and recreational tool that is available to the child. It reflects its period and its era, and has the task of transmitting and inculcating values, principles and standards of conduct that are supported positively and/or negatively through verbal expression, and mental images. Further more, the magazine constructs the child's ideas, his/her values and virtues that are illustrated through stories, themes and heroes. It also has the capacity to cultivate the child’s taste and to contribute to the development of his/her personality. Moreover, the child magazine is responsible, to a certain extent, for determining the quality of the future reading, whether it would be significant or trivial. Therefore, the magazine is very important since it is held accountable, to a large extent, for modeling the quality and the aspects of the child’s personality in the future. The objective of the present article, is to give an analysis of the content of the magazine Al-Arabi saghir - Kuwait - as a prelude to understand the nature of the magazine in general, and then explain the overall functions carried out by the magazines in shaping the child's personality by means of providing to the child, words, sentences, expressions, ideas and images that the child uses when he/she speaks or writes, which would enhance his/her writings and speech. \
