The present paper, which looks into a topic that is still a source of disagreement amongst researchers, adopts the linguistic approach. This choice stems from the belief that any reference to poetry must involve language. This means that the study of poetry cannot be done without the use of linguistics which helps to pinpoint its symbolic meanings and its aesthetic qualities. In essence, poetry broadens some of the particularities of language and its uses . The paper seeks to explore the anomalies in the approach generally used in the treatment of poetry and also to bring to light some of the contemporary linguistic critical views dealing with the poetic text by pursuing the different linguistic trends, their contents, and their high aesthetic features. We have chosen to devise this approach because the poetic text in general has never been subject to agreement between specialists due to the diversity of its sources , dimensions and meanings. We have started first by determining some current critical terminologies, that is, text discourse, texture, poetic discourse, and poetic language.... We have equally highlighted the methodic modelling in handling the literary text, and have by the same token , exposed some critical views. The method used in the present study relies on the linguistic approach which is visibly approximate to the poetic text , offering a panoply of approaches in the attempt to tackle its depths. Finally, the study offers a case study.
