|a منذ أن نشب الصراع بين الكنيسة وحركة النهضة الحديثة في أوروبا، وانتصار هذه الأخيرة في معركتها وتمكنها من حصر الدين في الكنائس وفي قلوب الناس، وإبعاده عن الحياة الاجتماعية عامة والسياسية منها خاصة، ومحاولة تصدير الفكرة العلمانية إلى بقية أجزاء العالم بعد ذلك، ومنها المجتمعات الإسلامية منذ ذلك الحين والدين يعيش حالة تشويش وتشويه لأبعاده الاجتماعية بصفة خاصة،بالرغم من الغنى الكبير للدين بالقيم الاجتماعية الضرورية للحياة الإنسانية، وخاصة الدين الإسلامي الذي تترابط فيه الجوانب العقائدية والروحية والعبادية والأخلاقية مع الجوانب الاجتماعية بشكل كبير جدا، لا يمكن فصلها عن بعضها البعض بأي حال من الأحوال، وإذا تم فصلها بشكل تعسفي، فإن آثارا سلبية شتى تترتب على ذلك في الحياة النفسية والروحية والاجتماعية للإنسان والمجتمع
