المستخلص:	The scope of this paper is to discuss the image given by Europeans of the Gulf and the events in that area in connection with the Arabs. It should be stated that this is a very fragmentary image. At most times the European interest in the Gulf was focused on trade with Persia and with the Ottoman Empire, information about Arabs is diffusely spread in the available text and is rather summary.
