Migration can have many types of economic impact, including effects on wages, total demand within an economy, growth, technological progress and exchange rates. In many developing countries migration and remittances are essential elements for development. But after the global financial crisis all countries are suffering from its effects. MENA countries suffer from the crisis but the degree of damage will depend on their degree of economic integration and their ability to implement certain macroeconomic and structural policies. This paper assesses the impact of the recent global financial crisis on migration among MEN A countries. The paper will focus on migration before and after the crisis. Section one deals with a brief introduction; section two gives an overview migration trends before the crisis among the MENA countries; section three asses the impact of the global crisis on international migration in the MENA region by industry, gender, and remittances; and while section four tackles the policies adopted in both countries of destination and origin to face up the crisis and to absorb the returning skilled labor.
