المستخلص: Wide Sargasso Sea’s intertextuality enables its writer, Jean Rhys, to highlight the concept of otherness not as sketched by a nineteenth century English novelist, i.e. Charlotte Bronte in one of the English classics: Jane Eyre, but as drawn by a postcolonial novelist, who has experienced and suffered its different shapes and levels all through her lifelong. Due to the nowadays fuss about “the other”, The objective of this paper is to define this concept according to current movements and schools of criticism, such as post colonialism, feminism, postmodernism....etc, and to focus on the most applicable ones to Wide Sargosso Sea in an effort to clarify Rhys’s sincere enactment in correcting the image of the other through the substance and from of her novel
