المستخلص: Exits from most conversations are as complicated as entries" H. H. Clark (1996:334) The present study offers an initial description of telephone conversation closings in Egypt as used in the data collected. The paper focuses on the sequential organization of Egyptian Arabic telephone conversation closings and compares such organization with that found in telephone conversation closings in North America. Data including some Egyptian Arabic telephone conversations were recorded and analyzed. The sequential organization of the closing part in these conversations is outlined. Some features of the telephone conversation closings are presented and described with occasional reference to the strategies employed by interactants to bring their conversations to an end.
