|b In Hilary Mantel's Eight Months On Ghazzah Street , the ways she approaches her work seem dual in all respects . First, she is handling a thorny issue of cultural clash for which she transfers from London to Saudi Arabia . For that purpose she makes her protagonist, Frances Shore , her artistic camera that goes through the new society , recording the inns and outs so objectively. Duality shows up as early as she arrives in Jeddah with her native culture that starts to hit against the other in a marvelously- built piece of literature . Mantel’s narrative method is dual as she employs two methods : "I-as-witness" first person , and third person "objective omniscience" side by side . Her satire is also of a dual nature because there is a constant comparison held between the two cultures . And , in like manner , her method of thought and speech presentation affirms that duality as we perceive the incidents sometimes from the protagonist’s direct speeches and conversations with others and from the "free indirect speeches" and the pure narration of the writer some other times. The aim of the study is to examine this dual narrative and stylistic strategy of Hilary Mantel.
