المستخلص: This paper studies the techniques in Wilder’s Our Town in terms of Aristotelian elements stated in Poetics and Brecht's alienation effects of the epic theatre. Aristotle in his Poetics listed six foundational elements of the ancient Greek theatre. If we look at these basic elements in relationship to similar elements in modern theatre, we can see there is an operative connection to ancient Greek theatre. In Our Town (1938), Thornton Wilder has followed some of these Aristotelian conventions and has modernized the others by following some features from Brecht's epic drama; to cast them all in a subtle fusion. Consequently, we find that there are obvious influences of both traditional and modernist theatres in Our Town.
