في اغلب مسرحياتها نقوم هيلمان بعرض مواضيع مثيرة للجدل، في تلك المسرحيات تعكس بشكل صريح وجهات نظرها السياسية والاجتماعية. يتطرق هذا البحث لدراسة شرور الطمع في مسرحيتها الثعالب الصغيرة-ويقوم البحث أساسا بدراسة طبيعة الشر في شخصيات عائلة هوبارد في المسرحية. حيث إن البحث يسلط الضوء على كيفية استحواذ الطمع لدى عائلة هوبارد باعتباره المشكلة الرئيسية في التحليل. وتكشف الدراسة كيف يستحوذ عليهم طمعهم والطريق الذي يصلون به إلى أهدافهم. بالإضافة لذلك يقوم البحث بتحليل العواقب الناجمة عن استحواذ الطمع على حياتهم-وتقوم الدراسة بعمل تشريح للشخصيات كأداة رئيسية لدعم التحليل. المال والقوة والجاه والمكانة الاجتماعية هي الأسباب الرئيسية خلف الشر لدى هذه الشخصيات. وان الطرق التي ينالون بها ما يريدون هي الغش والسرقة والاحتيال. وفي النهاية يؤدي طمعهم إلى تفكك علاقتهم العائلية ومن ثم فان كلا منهم يتحمل عواقب أفعاله الشريرة. وتقوم هيلمان بتطوير شخصية معينة على وجه الخصوص لتوازي وجود الشر والطمع في العائلة، وهي الكسندرا ابنة هورس وريجينا، حيث إنها الشخصية البريئة الوحيدة في العائلة، وان ثورتها في المشهد الأخير من المسرحية ذات مغزى كبير في مواجهة شر عائلة هوبارد. \
In most of her plays, Hellman explores highly controversial themes; in these plays she reflects her outspoken political and social views. The present paper studies the evils of greed in her play The Little Foxes. The paper is basically a study of the evil's nature in the characters of the Hubbards' family in the play. Actually, the paper highlights the obsessions of the Hubbards' greediness as the major problem of the analysis. The study finds out the obsessions of their greed and the way they reach their goals. Moreover; the paper analyzes the consequences of their obsession to their life. The study makes an anatomy on the characters as a main tool to support the analysis. Money, power, status and prestige are the main reasons behind the evil of these characters. The ways they get what they want are by cheating, stealing and trickery. Finally, their greediness breaks their family relationship and then each of them has to bear the consequences of his evil acts. Hellman utilizes the development of one character in particular to help parallel the realization of the evil and greed within the family. Alexandra, Horace and Regina's daughter, is the only innocent family member left in the Hubbard clan. Her revolt in the final scene of the play is very significant to face the evil of the Hubbards. \
