ان ادب الأطفال غني بالألوان ورموزها. حيث انه من النادر جدا ان تجد عنوان لكتاب مخصص لأطفال لا يضم في محتواه لون من الألوان. ان كتب الطفال الحديثة غنية أيضا بالرسوم الملونة والصور التي تضخم رموز معينة وبات من القليل ان تجد كتاب لا يحوي رسوم او ان رسومه بالأسود والأبيض. في هذا البحث قمنا بدراسة الألوان ورموزها بالتفصيل في احد أروع روايات الأطفال ساحر اوز الرائع (1900). تسافر دوروثي، بطلة القصة، من مدينتها كنساس الرصاصية اللون عبر الاعصار الى ارض اوز الملونة الرائعة. ان ارض اوز هذه مقسمة الى أربعة مدن ولكل مدينة لون خاص بها. ان سكان كل مدينة يرتون الملابس ذات لون يشبه لون مدينتهم ويصبغون بيوتهم بنفس اللون واثاثهم وكل شيء. كما ان الطرق المؤدية الى ل مدينة تمتلك الوانا خاصة بها هي الأخرى. لا يمكن ان يكون كاتب هذه الرواية قد استغرق هذا الوقت في تفصيل الالوان بهذا الشكل ليعده البعض عشوائيا. ان الباحث هدفه من هذا البحث تحليل هذه الألوان ورموزها وأسباب استخدامها. لقد تم تقسيم رمزية الألوان الى عدة مستويات بدا من المستوى الذي من السهل ملاحظته في الرواية الى المستوى الأصعب. ان المستوى الأول هو استخدام الألوان للتعبير عن الطبيعة حيث اللون الأزرق يرادف أي شيء في الطبيعة لونه ازرق كالسماد او الماء. اما المستوى الثاني فهو استخدام الألوان كرموز جغرافية حيث ان كل مدينة في ارض اوز أعطيت لونا محددا يختلف عن المدينة الأخرى كما هو الحال في الخرائط الجغرافية. في المستوى الثالث تأخذ الألوان منحنا علميا حيث وجد بعض العلماء ان ترتيب الألوان في هذه الرواية يتبع نظرية الألوان. حيث ان كل مدينة في هذه الأرض لها لون من الألوان الرئيسية بينما الطرق المؤدية منها واليها تمتلك الوانا ثانوية مشتقة من مزج لون احدى المدن مع المدينة القريبة منها. في المستوى الرابع أصبحت الألوان ترمز لمشاعر وشخصية ابطال الرواية. دوروثي تعيش في بيئة رصاصية كئيبة لأنها فقدت والديها والأسد لونه اصفر لأنه جبان والفزاعة والحطاب يرمزان لطبقة العمال الكادحين الذين عادة ما يرمز لهم باللون الأزرق. وأخيرا هناك المستوى الخامس وهو ان الألوان ترمز الى ابعاد تاريخية وسياسية من الصعب على الطفل اشتقاقها من الرواية ولكنها هدف القراءة الأكبر عمرا. اذا تم النظر الى الألوان من الناحية التاريخية سوف نجد ان بوم، المؤلف، وصف بألوانه الازمة الاقتصادية التي مرت بها أمريكا اثناء كتابته للرواية والمعايير المزدوجة للفضة والذهب وظهور الدولار الأمريكي الأخضر. ما ان الألوان عكست اشهر الحركات السياسية في ذلك الوقت وهي الحركة الشعبية. هناك مستويات عديدة للألوان ورمزيتها في رواية واحدة وبالتأكيد هناك الكثير. لذا لا يجب أن نأخذ اللون كأحد المسلمات في ادب الأطفال لان هناك الكثير الذي لا يمكن ان تراه فقط بالنظر ومثلما ان الامر يسري على الأطفال فهو يسري على ادبهم
Children's literature is rich with colors and color symbolism. It almost rare to find a title of a child's book that has no color or reference to colors in it. Recent books are illustrated and drawn with symbolic colors that it is hard to find a child's book that is black and white or has no illustrations. In this research color and color symbolism is studied in detailed in one of the most celebrated icons of late childhood literature, The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz (1900). Dorothy, the heroin of the novel, travels from her gray country, Kansas, through a cyclone to a colorful Land of Oz. This land is divided into four distinctive countries with each country having its own unique color. The inhabitants of each country wear clothes of the same color of their country as well as they pain their houses, furniture, fences and everything with that color. The road leading to each country has its own unique color too. These colors cannot be chosen randomly thus the researcher aimed at analyzing these colors and their symbolism. Color symbolism is broken down to many levels starting from the most obvious moving to the least obvious color symbolism. The first level of color symbolism is the natural association of color where blue refers to anything in nature that has this color like the sky. The second level is the geographical color symbolism where each country has a distinctive color just like countries on a map. The third level is the scientific color symbolism where colors represent the Color Theory and how the countries are made of primary colors while the roads leading to them are made of secondary colors that are the results of mixing the color of one country with that of the other. In the forth level colors represent psychological symbolism of characters where gray Kansas refers to Dorothy gray fate with her aunt and uncle, yellow represent the cowardice of the Lion, blue represent the blue collar workers represented by both the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman, etc. The final level is the political and historical color symbolism which is more difficult for children to infer from the novel compared to much older readers. The symphony of colors portrayed the economical history of America at that time with the double standard of silver and gold and the emergence of the green buck. Color also reflects the political movement that emerged during the time of the novel namely the Populist Movement. Many levels of colors symbolism in one novel and there are many more. Color symbolism in Children's books should never be dismissed simply because it looks too simple for there is always more that what meets the eye with children and their literature
