This paper discusses my translation of Goweda’s poem in light of the theory of cultural translation. Cultural translation, or translation of culture, changes the traditional concept of translation. It no longer considers finding the correct equivalents and transferring meaning across two languages as its main concern. Rather, it has subtly gained so much importance that it focuses on the transference of people’s life styles, values, traditions and religious beliefs. Despite efforts exerted to make globalization of culture a success, sometimes it is difficult to translate aspects of people’s cultures, which are called culture specifics. The discussion of Gweda’s poem illustrates the new role cultural translation has undertaken and highlights culture specifics as a problem for which different solutions should be suggested.
