المستخلص: Since the beginning of history, there have been clashes between civilizations rather than dialogues to dominate the other civilizations or to impose their cultures on them. As for the idea of dialogue between civilizations, it was an imaginative one, an attempt to live in the Utopian world, and was considered an attempt for self defense. Despite the fact that the UN adopted in 2001 the idea of dialogue between the different civilizations, and considered this date as the turn point in the history of mankind to start dialogue between the different civilizations worldwide, creating suitable conditions for this kind of dialogue is very difficult, if not impossible, but indispensable nonetheless. Approaching the different historical eras confirms the fact that there was an elite of leaders, scholars and opinion leaders working in the government and non- government institutions seeking a common ground to put the pillars for specific targets to come out with fair common grounds, to rejects wars, to reach a conciliation and coexistence between the different nations. But, the historical events are still present in the minds of all parties, regardless of the civilization they belong to. There are several difficulties hindering changing this picture, a typical and negative one as there was many theories promoting for the ideas of the need to fear the influence of other civilizations, while other theories were very illusive in their promotion for the idea that some civilizations must follow others- for what reasons they think appropriate. Despite a minority of proponents arguing the importance and the possibility of reaching the idea of successful dialogue between the different civilizations, the researcher believes that this idea is still hard to achieve in the current situations for several reasons.

تشكل العلاقة بين الشرق والغرب أحد الإشكالات التي أخذت الكثير من جهد المؤسسات الرسـمية السياسـية وغيـر الرسمية في الشرق-والوطن العربي على وجه الخصوص من جهة والغرب من جهة أخرى. إن العالم اليوم مدعو أكثر من أي وقت مضى إلى الدخول في حوار بصورة هادفة على كافة المستويات ليثبت جدارتـه وأهليته ومساهمته في صياغة الحضارة الإنسانية الراقية بالرغم من اختلاف التفافات وتعدد الألوان واللغات، ولا يمكن تصور علي المسافة الشاسعة بين الشرق والغرب رغم التقدم التكنولوجي المعاصر لان كلا الطرفين لم يتخلصا بعـد مـن عقـدة الماضي التي تحمل في ثناياها صوراً من صور الصراع الحضاري والديني والاقتصادي. وهنا تأتى أهمية الحـوار والوقـوف على المعوقات التي تقف حجر عثرة في طريقة من اجل التعرف على الأخر والتواصل معه والاتفاق على القواسـم المشـتركة لعيش حضارة واحدة واسعة متعددة الروافد والملامح وعيش ثقافة جديدة تسودها لغة التسامح والسلام والعدل والإنسانية بـدل تجرع مرارة الحرب والهيمنة وإقصاء الآخر.
